Telling stories of daily life along the journey from refugee source country to settlement

READ STORIES

When the voices of refugees are silenced or it is unsafe for them to tell their stories, we offer a safe collaborative platform for refugees and people from refugee cultures to break that silence. Their stories reveal the truth about those seeking asylum, why they are driven to undertake such a dangerous journey in search of safety and how they contribute to their new communities.

NAMES FACES PEOPLE

Names Faces People is an online journal with a difference. By telling stories of daily life along the journey from refugee source country to settlement, we aim to debunk the myths and propaganda featured in mainstream media and reveal the truth about refugees through interviews, photography, artwork, poetry and any other medium refugees choose.

OUR MISSION AND VISION

Our mission is to humanise the refugee debate by giving refugees a voice in a safe and non-political arena. Names Faces People is a community where stories can be shared away from the bias of mainstream media while protecting the privacy of the storytellers. Our vision is for it to be a safe collaborative space across the world where refugees, asylum seekers and their communities are free to express themselves. Names Faces People is open to individuals and groups. who share this philosophy.

WHO IS INVOLVED?

Names Faces People is an initiative of Melbourne charity The Welcome Group that focuses on grassroots support of refugees. We have volunteer Writing Coordinators who support Contributors to tell their stories and people who can help with interpreting.

We are always looking for contributors, volunteers, writers and editorsÂ
